  • Smokestack
Ever wonder why we have a smokestack? The Harvard Gulch Park and golf course was originally the Colorado State Children's Home which closed in 1971. The current golf course clubhouse was the boiler house which sent hot steam heat in underground pipe throughout the complex. There was a matching smokestack on the west side of the building but was destroyed by a lightning strike in the early 1990s.

  • Irrigation Water
Golf course and the surrounding park irrigation supply transitioned from potable to raw ditch water in 2021. The new pond stores the irrigation water and serves as an amenity for park and golf users. The pond also improves water quality and habitat for fish, ducks, and other wildlife.
