  • Irrigation Supply
Prior to being developed as a golf course, the land was farmed and irrigated from water held in the Skeel Reservoir (driving range) which was fed by the Highline Canal. The reservoir continued to serve as Wellshire's irrigation supply until 2018. Excessive water loss from the canal led Denver Water to cease using the open ditch. Plans are underway to remodel the reservoir to become a grass driving range. Learn more about Denver Golf's capital projects here.

  • Bill Wright
Constructed in 1926, Wellshire Country Club was designed by world renowned architect, Donal Ross. Purchased by the City of Denver in 1936, Wellshire Golf Course continues to honor the original design characteristics of the era with undulated fast greens and parkland style layout. Walk in the footsteps of golf greats like William "Bill" Wright, the winner of the 1959 USGA Public Links Championship held at Wellshire. Learn more about Bill and his achievements here.
